Spring Happenings

"Can words describe the fragrance of the very breath of Spring"
Neltje Blanchan

Spring is finally well on it's way up here on the hill and what a busy one it's been.  I started early in March with the building of a cedar planting bed from small trees that I found on the forest floor and they turned out to be the perfect size.  I originally planned to put my herbs in this bed but with too many tomato plants taking up room, the cedar bed is now being planted with beans, cucumbers, eggplant and squash.  So much for my grand planning.  I also got some large empty buckets from my neighbor that had horse feed in them that I am going to try planting potatoes in.  After a good cleaning they turned out pretty good.........here's a few pics......

Although it's been a busy time of year, I still took a little time to take photos of the Iris blooming....after all, it is out State flower and they are showing off so pretty!

And a few more types of flowers that are also showing off.....

The critters up here on the hill seem to like that it is finally warming up too......

And finally....the trees.  The most glorious colors of Spring are from the different shades of green that the trees put on.  It almost hurts the eyes with the burst of foliage that happens in springtime.

So that's just a little bit of what's going on up here.  It's a busy time of year for this gardener, the animals and for the plants.  We are grateful for the renewal all around.  And although it is busy, there is still time to pause, lift ones head up from the task at hand and relish the amazing sunsets that happen this time of year........
